CAUGHT IN THE HEADLIGHTS (RT: 89 minutes)
The “decisive moment” that famed French photographer André Cartier-Bresson championed in his works could also be applied to these stories of chance meetings and strange coincidences. From a dark parking lot, a shooting range, a hotel room in Baghdad, to the corner office, lives intersect and are changed in profound ways.

TWO CARS, ONE NIGHT

A dark parking lot in front of a bar. Nine-year-old Romeo and his brother Ed, have been told to wait in the car while their parents have a drink in the bar. Eleven-year-old Polly sits waiting in another car while her parents are also inside the bar. Romeo finds all this waiting about a dead bore and so he decides to introduce himself to the girl in the other car. You can meet your first love in the most unlikely places...

PHÔS

“Phôs” is the ancient Greek word for “light,” and is also the root word for “imagination.” Loosely based on Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, this camera-less animation was scratched on over 2000 frames.

CHAPTER 2: HOW TO BREATHE

Ji-su is a boy who lives in a village adjacent to a firing range. On the day his aunt and uncle come back from the hospital, he peeps into their room through a hole in the wall. After that, he goes to a deer farm, where he removes the ear-covers which he has made for his dog to shut out the noise of the shots. They find themselves in an unusual situation.

May 2003. Downtown Baghdad. 97 degrees Farenheit. The war for the liberation of Iraq is well under way. As the bombs drop and the Apache helicopters fly overhead, two American soldiers have captured and bound an Iraqi man. By strict orders coming down from their commanding officer, the two American soldiers are interrogating this man in hopes of ascertaining the whereabouts of Saddam Hussein. What starts as a routine interrogation, unravels into absurdity as the war rages on outside.

Three women sit down to their daily afternoon ritual, of eating lunch and listening to their favorite radio melodrama. As they slurp their porridge in beat with the melodic radio show, three men enter their home and sanctuary, breaking the peace.

But the new Charlie doesn’t just want to get what he deserves…he wants to get even!
