SEARCHING
FOR ASIAN AMERICA
(USA, 2003) Dir.: Donald Young, Kyung Sun Yu, Sapana Sakya
Through intimate profiles of individuals and communities from across
the country, this three-part series serves up a genuine taste of what
it's like to be Asian American in today's ever-changing United States.
SEARCHING FOR ASIAN AMERICA profiles Governor Gary Locke, the highest
elected official of Asian descent on the mainland; Martin Bautista
and Jeffrey Lim, Filipino immigrant doctors living in the predominantly
Caucasian, hog-farming American heartland of Guymon, Oklahoma; and
Lela Lee, a successful actress and creator of the underground comic
and website “Angry Little Girls.”
