EVEN DOGS HAVE CHOICES

Singaporean pop star XíHo was invited by documentary filmmaker Zai Kuning to be involved in a film about Singaporeís tattoo culture. When XíHo realized that the filmóLIVING DIGITALLYówould be screened at Singaporeís primary performing arts center, he opted to tattoo his penis. The six-minute sequence resulted in a demand by Singaporeís Censor Board that EVEN DOGS HAVE CHOICES be edited before screening, or be banned completely. It was bannedÖ

EXAMINING MY CLOSET

Esther feels her closet reflects her out and closet profilesódifferent styles that don't seem to converge in the straight or queer world. She goes in search of other closets to find why her ìclosetî seems so mismatched. Esther finds that while everyoneís closet is different, a common element exists among her community to perhaps wear their ìconsciencesî and not necessarily their identities outward.

THE NIGHT OF FREEDOM

A young man whose parents died during the 1970s political turmoil in Bangkok reckons with his gay libido. The third production in VC FILMFEST 2005 from the October Youth Short Film Project uses the structure of the modern-day ghost story to examine the mores and attitudes of todayís young Thai society.

BIONIC WOMAN

This profile of a young Pilipin(a) working for the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team in Los Angeles tells of her decision to undergo a sex reassignment procedure, and of the fulfillment the operation will have on her lifestyle.
