VC FILMFEST will again offer a complete and diverse slate of seminars
and panels affording audiences a unique glimpse into the craft
and perspectives of Asian Americans who make movies. Ranging from
those working within the mainstream entertainment arena to makers
who produce grassroots, independent media, the panels will occur
during the Festival Weekend, April 30 and May 1 at the Directors
Guild of America. A complete, finalized line-up of panel topics
and guest panelists will be posted online at www.vconline.org,
and will additionally be printed in the Festival program catalogue
to be made available at all VC FILMEST venues. Below is the lineup
of panels and seminars as of March; additional guests to be announced.

Opportunities for Asian American actors are exploding-the networks
continue to look for the next fresh Asian American face and Asian
American Cable TV stations are on the rise looking for new talent.
Network casting agents and independent producers speak about how
to get your acting career started and share where theyíre
looking for Asian Americans. Actors will learn about new opportunities
for work and building careers and independent filmmakers will come
away with new ideas for casting their next role.

WGA presents "How to Pitch Your Story"

The WGA panel will feature writers, producers, executives, and agents
who will discuss the finer points of pitching. This panel is for
aspiring and intermediate writers and will feature practice pitch
sessions with industry executives.
Note: All treatments and scripts must be registered in advance with
the Writers' Guild by mail or in person at the Los Angeles office
and/or be copyrighted. On site registration will be available for

Cinematography Workshop

An informative workshop that will give participants hands-on experience
and practical knowledge of the art and craft of Cinematography.
This workshop will be guided by some of the most prolific cinematographers
of the American Society of Cinematographers. Participants will get
the opportunity to see ASC members demonstrated the use of Light,
Shadow, and Composition. The workshop will also give participants
first hand experience with some of the most advanced technology
in the field of Cinematography.
